It's alright, as long as you programmers are improving as you improve the game we can wait years. s-bigsmile.gif

Ultimately being open about this stuff is the most important thing. Heck, when in doubt, the more you share with us, the better. It reminds people that the project (and you guys) aren't dead, despite setbacks. Which totally occur all the time. Murphy's Law didn't become a law by only happening sporadically.

Of course, if you end up writing a declaration of resolve about how you went to a greenlighting meeting and got "status pending," I can't guarantee many of us will react all too well to THAT. :P

Thanks!

Agreed. Though it can be a vicious cycle when I don't want to voice setbacks for the sake of project morale so I keep putting it off in the hopes that I'll have something more positive to report, but the longer I wait the harder it is to report nothing more than a setback. Especially when it's the dreaded "engine rewrite" post. s-argh.png I should just try to get in the habit of reporting more often regardless, I suppose.

Anyway, setbacks definitely do occur far too often. The engine's had a pretty rocky ride since the beginning, but this rewrite should definitely set the stage for smoother sailing. s-smiley.gif

Regarding finances, perhaps a donate button would help out? You wouldn't be telling people to give you money, so I don't think that would cross into any legal problems. But I think people would be happy to donate and help you guys out in any way possible, just because you guys deserve it. Hell, I would have tried to already if I wasn't having financial problems myself. Even if Capcom did have a problem with you donating, they'd most likely just warn you first, meaning you could take it down without other problems.

Also, that Tuttle facepalm is absolutely brilliant. XD

Don't worry about the engine problem. I've done programming before with a 2d platform game and putting uphill animation of my own anime girl was not that easy, so your task is more difficult. But since you guys have more experience than me at game programming, I know you will make it through. Why don't you ask capcom of USA to distribute your game like Street fighter x megaman? In terms of fairness if one guy gets his game distributed and gets over 1M downloads then you should as well.

@Mr. Foetus
We considered a donate button in the past, but decided not to for a few reasons. While Capcom probably wouldn't have a problem with it, we wouldn't want to give them any unnecessary reasons to be angry with us. Plus, TLT is really a community effort, both with Events and other staff (such as yourself) helping us out, so we'd feel a bit tacky letting people pay just us for our efforts. XD Still, we always appreciate the sentiment of those expressing a desire to donate towards/purchase the game, so thanks!

Hahaha, glad you liked the Tuttle facepalm. s-squint.gif I figured a bleak post like this could use some color and humor.

@thechosen261
Thanks for your support!
As fAB said about having Capcom distribute it, the project is still a very long ways off from that even being a consideration at this point. And regardless, I doubt Capcom would dig it anyway; Tuttle doesn't exactly have the mainstream appeal of NES Mega Man and Street Fighter.

Hmm, this is disappointing news. Good thing that you are doing this before it becomes a bigger problem down the road. I suppose it was inevitable. Let's hope for a speedy recovery. Even if it's not, I'm a patient man.

Hey, progress is progress, right? This isn't bad news at all! An engine rewrite that makes it easier to code means we get the game faster, with better features! Thanks for letting us know about the troubles. s-smiley.gif

If you ever want any time to discuss the engine and how you'd like to lay it out, please let me know. I had modeled a lot of an old man for you guys, but I am a game programmer by trade. I do it all day and I currently only work in Unity. So please make time, whether it's with me or not, to find a sounding board to talk you through things. Please consider reaching out to me and I can give you some feedback as to what you're thinking or share how I go about things in my own game.

I totally understand the time limitations. I'm working about 75 hours a week between my game project and my contract game work. Some of my best progress has come from talk things through with someone else.

Keep at it and thanks for the update.

@Burton
Thanks for your support! We've still got you on the programmers list for when I get the time, so I'll definitely keep you in mind if I need a sounding board for the new engine when it gets going. s-smiley.gif
